Capcom just announced a mobile spinoff to expand the Monster Hunter franchise by the developers of CoD: Mobile and Pokémon Unite.
Since the release of Monster Hunter World – Capcom's best-selling game – back in 2018, the series has reached new heights around the world. We've now enjoyed a live-action movie, Monster Hunter Rise and next up: a mobile spinoff.
Teaming up with the studio behind CoD: Mobile and Pokémon Unite
While fans wait for the release of the next big title, Monster Hunter Wilds, coming in 2025, Capcom have announced a mobile spinoff called Monster Hunter Outlanders. The company is teaming up with TiMi, the studio behind Call of Duty: Mobile and Pokémon Unite, to develop an "open-world survival game” playable either solo or in co-op with up to four people.
Outlanders will feature the main aspects of the Monster Hunter games, like exploring, crafting and of course hunting, but will also add live service and social elements.
The general success of Monster Hunter in combination with TiMis history might lead to an interesting portable experience that could make more than a quick buck for Capcom, but we will have to wait a while longer to find out since the game so far doesn’t even have a release date.
What are your thoughts on the mobile approach of Monster Hunter? Are you interested in the spinoff?
