A Definitive Edition with new graphics has just been announced for the real time strategy game.
Good news for fans of the classic strategy game – a well-praised title soon will shine in new splendor.
Back in 2002 a real time strategy game launched that still has a strong community: Stronghold Crusader might be 23 years old, but its fans still sing its praises. And there are good reasons for that.
Once an Add-on for Stronghold, the game combines war strategies of Age of Empires with a detail-loving castle building system.
The original studio, Firefly, has announced a Definitive Edition for July 15, which builds on its old strengths but will in many ways represent an updated and improved version. Excited players can already enjoy a free demo.
Stronghold Crusader Remake Coming This Summer
Even though the developers took special care not to distort the familiar graphic style, it now appears significantly fresher and more convincing. The beloved isometric perspective and castle-building elements have been retained but now shine in new, high-resolution splendor.
Additionally, the update introduces four new AI opponents, eight new units, and various customizable options.
Moreover, the remake includes redesigned campaigns, reworked maps for skirmishes, and the so-called "Crusader Trail," a series of interconnected missions that, for the first time, can also be played in co-op mode.
Thanks to the wonderful blend of familiar and beloved features with new and exciting elements, the Definitive Edition is likely to appeal to both Stronghold veterans and newcomers alike. If you want to take a look for yourself, you can download and enjoy a free demo on Steam.
