India – August 20, 2024: Team IND has emerged victorious at THE FINALS Community Cup, an open-for-all esports tournament, taking home $6,000 (about INR 5 lakhs) from the $10,000 prize pool. The competition, which ran from August 2, 2024, saw teams battle it out across several stages to claim the top spot.
The tournament began with Split 1, followed by Split 2 and a Last-Chance Qualifier, all leading up to the Main Event. Team IND started strong, winning Split 1 and securing their place in the Main Event. From there, they continued their flawless run, advancing through the Upper Bracket and setting up a showdown in the Grand Finals against Team HAVK.
Despite the formidable lineup of Team HAVK, which included well-known players like Killua Gaming and Hades Plays, they were no match for the unstoppable Team IND. In the intense 5v5 Terminal Attack mode, Team IND delivered a commanding 3-0 sweep, earning them the title of THE FINALS Community Cup’s inaugural champions.
Reflecting on their victory, Kshitiz “Tempest” Mishra, captain of Team IND, attributed their success to being early adopters of THE FINALS and its Terminal Attack mode. "This gave us a strategic edge," said Tempest. "We’re excited to see what future tournaments hold and look forward to competing again soon."
The tournament’s success highlights the growing popularity of THE FINALS in India, with over 56 teams participating across the different stages. The next tournament is already in the works, with plans for a city-based format aimed at increasing regional engagement. Further details will be shared on THE FINALS India social media channels in the near future.
