The Duskbloods has been officially and exclusively announced for the Switch 2. We have collected everything you need to know about the new FromSoft game.

No one expected FromSoftware's latest game, The Duskbloods, which will be exclusively released for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. The main focus will be multiplayer: Up to 8 players will compete in a PvPvE.
The Bloodsworn And Their Abilities
Players will take on the role of "Bloodsworn", powerful characters with supernatural abilities based on blood magic. Over a dozen playable characters will be available, each with unique melee and ranged weapons. In addition, every character is equipped with skills like double jumps, which can be customized later. After each round, players will return to a central hub, in which they can exchange what they earned for further customization.

Lore
According to developer Hidetaka Miyazaki, The Duskbloods is about the so-called Bloodsworn. As humanity's time is coming to an end, they are each sent to different times to obtain "First Blood". This flows in an event called "Dusk of humanity". The story is to be discovered through the individual characters, whose "Bloodlore" can be changed by the protagonist. For example, we can see a winged rat, which will be voiced as a "gentleman" and guide us on our way. It will provide helpful advice similar to the firekeepers, which we already know from Dark Souls.

FromSoftwares Latest Experiment
Although The Duskbloods focuses on multiplayer, Hidetaka Miyazaki emphasizes that FromSoftware will continue to develop single-player titles. That makes the game an "experiment", rather than a shift of direction. By combining beloved elements with a competitive multiplayer, the studio takes a different approach with this game. Out of all things, Miyazaki lists Escape from Tarkov as a major inspiration, so we can expect to see gameplay elements like raids. Stylistically, we've already seen lots in the trailer. Between gothic architecture, we can also see modern aesthetics.

Speculation
The studio is known for taking notes of earlier projects and to incorporate the most positive aspects into their latest games. Even though The Duskbloods seems to be very different, we will definitely see elements incorporated from Dark Souls or Elden Ring. And who knows? Perhaps we will then also see elements from this game that will be adopted in others. The target audience for this game won't be the same, but it's definitely an interesting choice to release a Switch exclusive with this one. And maybe it will inspire more developers to not treat the Switch 2 as a kids toy.
What do you think of the trailer and the interview? Did it pique your interest? Or are you disappointed and would perhaps prefer a Bloodbourne 2?
