The Simpsons mobile game shutting down after 12 years

EA has made the decision to remove The Simpsons: Tapped Out from the various app stores by the end of the month, and will close the game's servers entirely next year. Old fans of the game are sad to see it go, and so are the devs.

On September 26, the official Simpson: Tapped Out Facebook account posted a melancholic farewell, informing fans that the game is being sunset. At first, most assumed this was just a cruel joke, but sadly not.

EA shutting down Tapped Out for good

They have announced that in-app purchases have already been disabled and that the game will be removed entirely from all app stores on October 31, so if you wish to see the game one last time before it's gone, you should take the chance to download it now.

But sadly, you won't be able to play it for much longer, because on January 24 EA Mobile devs will shut down the servers and the TSTO will be inaccessible from that moment on.

The game was up and running for more than twelve years, had 308 updates in which 831 characters and a total of 1,463 quest lines were added. Quite the feat!
