Like Mario Party, but with swords and even more ways to betray your family.
For fans of old school games or games that might ruin relationships, this is absolutely good news: DOKAPON! is back!
Don’t you wish there would be more games that could ruin families, marriages and friendships than just Mario Party? Well, fear no more! Because Japanese developer Sting just announced the comeback of DOKAPON! Sword of Fury on January 21.
The mix of a board game with RPG elements will be a remastered PC version of the PlayStation original from 1998 and support English and Japanese language options.
The remaster already has been released for the Nintendo Switch in August of last year in Japan – but so far, it is unclear if the Switch version will also be released outside of Japan any time soon.
The game claims itself to be “the ultimate relationship-ruining board game x RPG” in which you and your friends have to “defeat monsters, purchase weapons, and level up, just like in an RPG” until you meet the final boss of the board. But while you free the land from evil creatures, don’t forget your true goal: Becoming filthy rich!
Work together with other players or betray them – it’s up to you how you want to fill your money bag.
The remastered version also features:
- Online mode with autosave function to pause the game whenever you need.
- HD widescreen support for full immersion.
- Options to speed up the gameplay up to 5 times.
- A complete customizable game play to have the game in the unique way you always wanted to play.
- A mix of nostalgic 2D pixel art with enhanced 3D models.
The remastered version of Sting’s DOKAPON! Sword of Fury will be released for PC via Steam January 21 – if the Switch version will launch worldwide as well is still unknown.
