After encountering many troubles along the way, Wayfinder finally gets a full release on Steam. It looks great!
The developers from Airship Syndicate struggled a lot to get here, but they finally made it. Their passion project Wayfinder just got released on Steam, Playstation and Xbox.
What is Wayfinder?
Wayfinder is a Co-op Action RPG with an open world and many dungeon crawler elements. You are on a quest to find the power of the Wayfinders to save Evenor, a world overrun by chaos and evil.
Together with up to two friends, you conquer dungeons and fight against a large variety of bosses.
What happened to Wayfinder?
The game used to be a free multiplayer RPG, while Airship Syndicate worked to improve their game. But there was a huge obstacle in their way: Digital Extremes, their old publisher, closed the publishing arm in charge of Wayfinder and thus the game couldn't be launched.
Luckily, Airship Syndicate managed to reacquire the rights to its own game. But instead of just publishing it as it was, they chose to delist it from Steam and other platforms and give it a complete makeover.
The developers took all criticism from fans to heart and decided to improve accordingly.
About four months ago, Wayfinder relaunched in its early access, with many changes immediately evident. It is not a multiplayer-only game anymore, now players also have the option of playing the game on their own.
Wayfinder's full launch
And now, Airship Syndicate have finally launched the full release of Wayfinder, with version 1.0. It costs $26.50 on Steam, with 10% off currently as an introductory sale.
“Wayfinder has been a passion project from the start, and from our entire crew at Airship, we appreciate every person who has played the game and given us positive and negative feedback,” said the studio upon launch.
Ever since the early access and especially now with the full release, reviews on Steam have become significantly more positive. Most reviews since launch have been overwhelmingly positive.
Will you be playing Wayfinder now it's finally been released?
