For three games straight, we accompanied the White Wolf on his journey – it comes as no surprise that after all of his adventures, tough choices and epic fights, Geralt of Rivia became one of the most beloved video game protagonists of all time.

We already know that in the upcoming Witcher 4, Ciri – basically Geralt's adoptive daughter – will take center stage and we'll follow her on her path. Thankfully, the devs have answered the fans' most pressing question: Does Geralt even appear in The Witcher 4?

Will Geralt appear in The Witcher 4?

The devs of The Witcher 4 have already answered quite a few questions about the next installment in the series, including romances, the future of Gwent and Ciri's overpowered abilities.

In an interview with IGN, CD Projekt Red confirmed that "Geralt will appear in the game" but also made clear they won't spoil his part of the story. They also eased fans' worries about Geralt's voice and, thankfully, iconic Doug Cockle will return – probably not to say "Wind's howling" every now and then, but he'll lend his voice to the White Wolf again. This comes as a huge relief, especially for fans who already miss Ciri's old voice after the trailer from The Game Awards revealed that her voice has changed in the years between Witcher 3 and 4.

If Geralt's role will be classic fan-service with him just appearing quickly to say hi or if he'll play a bigger part remains a mystery for now. As CD Projekt Red has been quite faithful to the lore from The Witcher books, we don't have to worry about him meeting a devastating end in the sequel, though:

I think we can expect Geralt to be around for a long time. The capacity in which he does is, we'll see, but I don't think he's going anywhere.

No trauma from The Last of Us Part II resurfacing in The Witcher franchise – thanks for that!

The last we've heard from Geralt was him taking some time off after the DLC Blood and Wine in The Witcher 3 – deserved, I reckon. How he was holding up there and if he picked up his swords again at some point between the last game and the sequel has not been confirmed nor denied at this point. That means he might appear as the one-man-army we know and love in The Witcher 4, Ciri could visit him in his new home in Toussaint to get some advice or father-daughter time, or we could see him in a wildly different scenario – theories are endless right now.

What's your guess? How would you like Geralt's appearance to turn out? Let us know in the comments!
