After 20 Years, Developers Behind God of War Create New IP

A Santa Monica Studio developer's LinkedIn profile reveals that the studio has been working on a brand-new IP. This would be the first new IP since God of War.

In 2001 Santa Monica Studio released their first ever video game called Kinetica. Shortly after that, in 2005, the first God of War was released, which launched a franchise that would shape the studio for years to come.

Now a LinkedIn profile, spotted by a member of ResetEra, revealed that Santa Monica Studio is developing a new IP.

Santa Monica Studio's New IP

We don't know what the new game is going to be called or what kind of game it will be, but we do know it's in development.

In the Info section of this LinkedIn profile, the developer wrote:

Santa Monica Studios presented the opportunity of coming back as Character Supervisor, looking after the entire Character Development pipeline, on their new unannounced project , so here I am, thrilled to be back, working again with the crew and pushing Characters in videogames together.

The fact that Santa Monica Studio was looking for a new Character Supervisor means that they are definitely developing a new game, outside the God of War cosmos.

What this game will look like will probably be revealed in the next few years.

In any case, the way that Santa Monica has been dropping bangers in the last years, we couldn't be more excited for this.

What do you think? Will this game be another action-adventure, or something different?
