What Is BGIS 2025 The Grind?

The Grind is an official qualification stage for BGIS 2025, where 64 top-performing teams from previous tournaments are invited to compete. Based on their rankings in The Grind, these teams will be placed into various stages of the main event.

Schedule of BGIS 2025 The Grind

The Grind is scheduled to take place from February 5 to February 23, 2025. The 64 invited teams will be divided into four groups of 16 teams each. Each group will play 24 matches during their designated week. The event is structured over four weeks as follows:

  • Week 1 (February 5 - 8):
    • Top 8 teams: Advance to Round 2 (February 27 - March 2).
    • Bottom 8 teams: Advance to Round 1 (February 16 - 23).
  • Week 2 (February 10 - 13):
    • Top 8 teams: Advance to Round 3 (March 6 - 9).
    • Bottom 8 teams: Advance to Round 2 (February 27 - March 2).
  • Week 3 (February 15 - 18):
    • Top 8 teams: Advance to Round 4 (March 13 - 16).
    • Bottom 8 teams: Advance to Round 3 (March 6 - 9).
  • Week 4 (February 20 - 23):
    • Top 8 teams: Advance to Quarterfinals (March 20 - 23).
    • Bottom 8 teams: Advance to Round 4 (March 13 - 16).

Format of BGIS 2025

BGIS 2025 is an open-to-all tournament featuring both professional and amateur teams. The tournament is structured in multiple stages:

  • In-Game Qualifiers (January 25 - February 2):
    • All registered teams play 15 matches; the best 10 games are considered.
    • Top teams advance to Round 1.
  • Round 1 (February 16 - 23):
    • 1,024 teams (including teams from In-Game Qualifiers and The Grind) divided into 64 groups.
    • Each group plays six matches; top teams advance to Round 2.
  • Round 2 (February 27 - March 2):
    • 512 teams in 32 groups.
    • Each group plays six matches; top teams advance to Round 3.
  • Round 3 (March 6 - 9):
    • 256 teams compete.
    • Top teams progress to Round 4.
  • Round 4 (March 13 - 16):
    • 128 teams battle it out.
    • Successful teams move to the Quarterfinals.
  • Quarterfinals (March 20 - 23):
    • 64 teams compete for a spot in the Semifinals.
  • Semifinals (Dates TBA):
    • Top teams from the Quarterfinals vie for a place in the Grand Finals.
  • Grand Finals (April 18 - 20):
    • The best teams compete for the championship title in Kolkata.
