The Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2026 is back with a massive format featuring 10+ stages, a ₹2 crore prize pool, and a three-month journey ending in a LAN Grand Finals.

Starting January 8, 2026, thousands of underdog squads will join established pro teams. The teams will be in for the longest and most comprehensive open-to-pro tournament in Indian esports history, the BGIS 2026.

BGIS 2026 Format

The Grind (Invited Stage)

Before the main open rounds begin, 64 invited teams will compete in The Grind from January 17 to February 1, 2026. These teams are split into four groups (A, B, C, D) and play 24 matches each. Their performance here determines where they enter the main tournament:

  • Group D (Jan 17–20): Top 8 go to Round 2; Bottom 8 go to Round 1.
  • Group C (Jan 21–24): Top 8 go to Round 3; Bottom 8 go to Round 2.
  • Group B (Jan 25–28): Top 8 go to Round 4; Bottom 8 go to Round 3.
  • Group A (Jan 29–Feb 1): Top 8 advance directly to Quarter Finals; Bottom 8 go to Round 4.

Main Event Roadmap (Rounds 1–4)

While invited teams battle in The Grind, open qualifiers kick off the main bracket.

  • In-Game Qualifiers (Jan 8–14): Registered teams play 15 matches, with their best 10 scores counting. The top 1,016 teams move to Round 1.
  • Round 1 (Jan 26–Feb 1): 1,016 qualified teams + 8 from The Grind (Group D) compete. 496 teams advance to Round 2.
  • Round 2 (Feb 5–8): 496 teams from Round 1 + 16 from The Grind (Groups C & D) compete. 240 teams move to Round 3.
  • Round 3 (Feb 12–15): 240 teams from Round 2 + 16 from The Grind (Groups B & C) compete. 112 teams advance to Round 4.
  • Round 4 (Feb 19–22): 112 teams from Round 3 + 16 from The Grind (Groups A & B) compete. The top 56 teams go to the Quarter Finals, while the next best 16 move to the Wildcard stage.

The Road to the Grand Finals

The competition narrows drastically in the final month.

  • Quarter Finals (Feb 26–Mar 1): 64 teams (56 from Round 4 + 8 top seeds from The Grind Group A) battle it out. The top 16 advance to the Semifinals, while teams ranked 17th–40th drop to the Wildcard.
  • Wildcard Stage (Mar 5–8): 32 teams (24 from Quarter Finals + 8 from Round 4) fight for survival. Only the top 8 advance to the Semifinals.
  • Semifinals (Mar 12–15): 24 teams (16 from Quarter Finals + 8 from Wildcard) compete in a round-robin format. The top 8 teams secure a direct slot in the Grand Finals. The remaining 16 must play the Survival Stage.
  • Survival Stage (Mar 16–17): The 16 non-qualified semifinalists play 12 matches. The top 8 grab the final tickets to the Grand Finals.

BGIS 2026 Grand Finals

The tournament culminates in a massive LAN event from March 27 to 29, 2026. The final 16 teams (8 from Semifinals + 8 from Survival Stage) will play 18 matches over three days to decide the champion of India and the winner of the lion's share of the ₹2 crore prize pool.
