Smolder is the newest League of Legends champion and his priority is rising, especially if you see just how many pentakills the champion has earned since his release.
Getting a pentakill in League of Legends shouldn't be easy, but it seems that with the newest champion seems to prove otherwise with more and more players managing to get a pentakill with the new little dragon on Summoner's Rift.
While Smolder has an extremely weak early game, his late game power once he's reached enough stacks for his execute damage just feels unfair. Add in the burn damage, and you've got an easy way to reach 5 kills as quickly as possible.
League of Legends: Smolder Has More Pentakills In 2024 Than Jinx Did In All Of 2023
Smodler has it all. A dash, AoE damage, a slow and sustain thanks to his ultimate. He also deals a lot of damage in the late game which makes him one of the best scaling champs League of Legends currently has to offer. His pick rate in solo queue is through the roof and his pro presence is also on the same level as Zeri's in 2022.
There are a lot of reasons why teams are prioritizing the champion since his release onto Summoner's Rift. While his early game is weak, he's a safe pick thanks to the mobility in his kit. What players have also noticed is how impactful he can be late game. According to lol fandom, Smolder already has 24 pentakills across multiple professional League of Legends leagues.
The champion's first pentakill came on February 20 in the Greek Legends League when Stavros "Vaynedeta" Giannoulakis played the dragon. The first main region pentakill on Smolder was scored by none other than Gen.G's Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan on February 24.
By comparison, Jinx was one of the most popular champions throughout the 2023 season and had 21 pentakills. The most pentakills, by far, in 2023 came from none other than Zeri who had a whopping 51 in 2023. But looking at the current numbers, if Smolder stays unchecked he is on the way to be the next Zeri with even more pentakills under his belt in 2024.
Smolder did just receive a micropatch nerf in LoL Patch 14.5, but will the changes make a difference? Right now he continues to be a key pick in professional play and in solo queue. So we're likely going to be seeing a lot of this pick, especially going into the 2024 Mid-Season Invitational this May.
