Aurora Gaming has been crowned the champions of the Skyesports Masters 2024, defeating OG 3-1 in an intense Grand Finals. With this victory, the team will take home $105,000 of the $350,000 prize pool and secure a slot in the next tournament of the 2024 Skyesports Counter-Strike 2 roadmap, the Skyesports Championship 2024.
The Skyesports Masters 2024 was held from April 8 to 14, with eight teams from India and Europe competing for a substantial prize pool.
Skyesports Masters 2024 Grand Finals Match Summary
Anubis (MAP 1)
With full confidence, Aurora Gaming dominated their opponent in the final battle. The first half ended with a score of 10-2. However, OG tried to make a comeback on the CT side, but they failed. The match ended with a final score of 13-6 in favour of Aurora Gaming.
Mirage (MAP 2)
OG made a comeback & dominated the first half of the map with a score of 8-1 after 9 rounds, and finished the half with a 9-3 lead. In the second half, Aurora Gaming put up a good fight and attempted a comeback, but OG managed to hold on to their lead and win the map with a final score of 13-11.
Ancient (Map 3)
It was a crucial match for both teams as the score was tied at 1:1 after the first two maps. Aurora Gaming played CT side in the first half and managed to secure 7 rounds, leaving OG with only 5 rounds. In the second half, Aurora Gaming was able to launch a strong offensive and OG couldn't defend themselves, resulting in Aurora Gaming winning the map 13-10 and taking the lead in the Grand Finals.
Overpass (Map 4)
It was a do-or-die match for OG but Aurora had other plans as they were unbeaten in the whole Tournament. Aurora had the opportunity to attack first and completely dominated OG in the first half, ending it at 10-2. OG had no hope of making a comeback and the second half ended at 13-3.
With that score, Aurora Gaming won the Grand Finale at an overall score of 3:1. The fifth map, Inferno, was not played.In a post-match interview, Aurora’s Evgeniy "Norwi" Ermolin expressed gratitude to the team's fans, stating, "I am feeling really good; we played really well today. Aurora Gaming's "Deko" and "Norwi" have been named Most Valuable Player and Most Valuable Leader, respectively, and have each received $2500.
With this victory, Aurora Gaming has secured a slot in the Skyesports Championship 2024, the details of which will be announced later. It’s the next tournament in Skyesports’ 2024 Counter-Strike 2 esports roadmap, which has paved the way for international teams to look at the tournaments as viable IPs for them to participate in.
