Chrono Trigger Celebrates 30th Anniversary With Various Projects Beyond Gaming

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Chrono Trigger is giving fans a sneak peak at exciting future projects and events.

The iconic RPG Chrono Trigger, first released in 1995 for the SNES, is marking its 30th anniversary on March 11, 2025. Renowned for its compelling story, innovative gameplay and unforgettable soundtrack, Chrono Trigger has had a lasting impact on the RPG genre.

A Time-Traveling Celebration

The game follows protagonist Chrono and his friends as they travel through time to save the future from an alien parasite called Lavos. Along the way, they are joined by a diverse cast of characters from different time periods, each bringing their unique abilities to the journey.

To celebrate the 30-years milestone, Square Enix took to their official Twitter account to share their excitement for the future. The company has teased a year of special projects, saying, "To mark the 30th anniversary and to express our gratitude to everyone who has played Chrono Trigger so far, we are planning a variety of projects over the next year that will go beyond the world of the game." Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for updates via Square Enix's official X account and @ChronoTriggerPR.

To add to the festivities, a special livestream event will take place on March 14 at 7:00 p.m. PT / 10:00 p.m. ET and run through March 15 at 4:00 a.m. PT / 7:00 a.m. ET, featuring a musical tribute to Chrono Trigger's iconic soundtracks. You can watch the stream on YouTube.

For those who want to revisit the classic, Chrono Trigger is currently available for PC via Steam, as well as iOS and Android. The game has also been released on PlayStation and DS over the years, ensuring that it remains accessible to long-time fans and new players alike.
