Helldivers 2: Players begin construction on a massive space station

In Helldivers 2, players have begun an ambitious mission to build the Democracy Space Station (DSS), a powerful strategic weapon that will help liberate planets. But this project is just beginning, and there's a long journey ahead.

The Democracy Space Station (DSS) is being set up as a major asset in the ongoing war taking place in Helldivers 2. However, it's far from complete.

A long road ahead

To begin construction, players had to secure an orbital construction site in a previous Major Order, which began on September 24, 2024. With the successful completion of this mission, the first of four phases has begun.

Once complete, the DSS will be a new strategic-level weapon. It will wield powerful, Helldiver-directed weaponry to aid in the liberation of its orbited planet. The Helldivers are ordered to clear and hold Turing, to allow the Ministry of Science to establish a new, state-of-the-art Xenoentomology Center. The Center will prototype and develop new High-Efficiency Alcubiere Drives, capable of effectively transporting gigastructures like the DSS.

This phase introduces a new Major Order: players must liberate the planet "Turing" from robotic forces in order to establish a new research center focused on xenoentomology, the study of alien insects. This research center is essential to the development of advanced propulsion systems capable of moving the massive DSS.Although the DSS will assist in the liberation of a planet upon completion, the location of that planet is still up for debate. Players will be able to vote on the final location of the DSS through an upcoming voting system.

It's likely that each of the DSS's four construction phases will involve a new Major Order, with players needing to complete four consecutive missions to see the project through. A potential risk is also looming, as failure in any of these General Commands could affect construction, and the station itself is vulnerable to attack during this process. Players will therefore have to defend the DSS while continuing to push for its completion. We wish them the best of luck.
