Marvel Rivals dominated the Steam and Twitch charts last week.

The new 6v6 arena shooter from NetEase has quickly established itself and is challenging its competitor Overwatch.

Although the game has only recently been released, the first major content update with a surprising crossover is already planned for January 3, 2025.

A Marvel fusion

The first major update aims to get an even bigger player base and further connect Marvel fans.

The cooperation includes three well-known games from the Marvel universe: Marvel Future Fight, Marvel Puzzle Quest and Marvel Snap.

Each of these games has unique strengths that make the crossover particularly exciting.

Future Fight, an action RPG, is known for its fast-paced gameplay and a huge selection of Marvel characters whose special abilities are perfectly coordinated.

Puzzle Quest offers a mix of strategy and match 3 gameplay, while Snap, the current highlight among digital card games, scores with quick rounds and creative deck-building options.

The event will feature exclusive skins, new characters and themed game modes inspired by the mechanics of collaborative games.

For example, players can use cards from Marvel Snap for tactical advantages or bring abilities from Future Fight into the arena.

With this move, NetEase is focusing on a strong universe that rewards and retains fans in the long term – a smart strategy to further anchor the new game in gaming culture.

While Overwatch is struggling with dwindling player numbers, Marvel Rivals is challenging the competition with innovation and fan service.

The upcoming crossover could further strengthen the shooter's momentum and, incidentally, excite long-established Marvel fans even more.
