What was it about?

In the first three Tomb Raider games, the focus was on puzzles, traps, and mysteries, with combat sequences being rare. The games centered around classic adventures, where exploration and solving puzzles played the leading role.

With the sequels, parts 4 to 6, the series gradually shifted away from this approach. These entries deepened the storyline, introduced more complex gameplay mechanics, and further developed Lara Croft as a character, making the gameplay more action-oriented.

The PvE situations became more challenging, and the use of firearms increased. This shift in gameplay led to mixed reviews, especially for Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness.

Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (Part 4)

The fourth installment of the series returns to Lara's roots, primarily set in Egypt. It presents a more cohesive storyline than its predecessors, drawing players deeper into the narrative.

Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation introduced new mechanics like rope climbing and object pushing, enhancing the game's exploration of tombs.

Its immersive atmosphere contributed to its commercial success and popularity among fans, despite receiving mixed reviews due to technical issues and unfinished elements.

Tomb Raider: Chronicles (Part 5)

Tomb Raider: Chronicles told Lara's story from the perspectives of her friends and allies. The episodic structure guided players through a diverse array of locations, from ancient ruins in Greece to modern cityscapes.

While technically solid, the game felt more like a safe, less innovative sequel.

Tomb Raider: Chronicles couldn't quite match the success of its predecessor, but it remains an entertaining chapter in the series.

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness (Part 6)

The Angel of Darkness aimed to modernize the series with a bold reboot. It introduced a darker atmosphere and new gameplay elements, such as stealth mechanics and RPG features. The story delved deeper into Lara's character, presenting her as more complex than before.

Despite its ambitious ideas, the game suffered from technical issues and unfinished features, which led to criticism. Nevertheless, it is still appreciated today by fans for its innovative narrative and darker direction.
