Sakurai reacted to a Nintendo tweet and the Smash Bros. community went crazy...
In a time when fans decide that Rockstar not mentioning GTA 6 at all is a clear statement that the game will be released soon, people seemingly take anything as a confirmation for new games.
The Creator of Super Smash Bros Masahiro Sakurai is experiencing this firsthand while fans are flooding him with fighter requests for Smash 6, after he simply responded to the announcement of a Switch 2 Nintendo Direct.
It Only Took A "Wow"
With the first trailer for the Switch 2, Nintendo already announced an upcoming Nintendo direct on April 2, now confirming that it will be a Switch 2 Direct, revealing more information about the console and its launch titles.
Responding to this tweet, Sakurai simply wrote “wow” – leading to a flood of speculations around a possible new Super Smash Bros.
Sakurai hadn’t even taken his fingers from the keyboard when players immediately saw this as confirmation for Smash 6 and started bombarding him with requests to add their favorite video game characters into the game.
New Foes Should Appear!
“Give them one more chance Sakurai!” someone wrote, posting a picture of Geno from Super Mario RPG and Skull Kid from Majora’s Mask.
Another one added “It’s time Mister Sakurai” followed by a whole list of requests including characters like Waluigi and Shadow the Hedgehog.

People started creating whole rosters for the game that hasn’t even been announced at all so far, including Dante, Master Chief or Tekken’s Fahkumram.

Requests like this are not at all unusual, especially for the Smash Bros. community with people claiming to have unlocked characters like Luke Skywalker or Lara Croft since the very first game back in 1999. It'll probably take some time until we are even sure if a new Smash Bros. is coming soon – until April 2, at least.
