Wasfi and Shubham, the ESFI’s NESC24 winners are going to represent India at the BRICS Esports Championship 2024 that will be in Moscow from November 9-10, 2024.
Wasfi Bilal, also known as YoshiKiller, and Shubham are all set to represent India at the BRICS Esports Championship 2024 (BEC). This big event is going to be held in Moscow, Russia, from November 9-10, 2024. They earned this opportunity by securing the top spots in the National Esports Championship 2024 (NESC24), which took place on October 12-13. Wasfi took first place, while Shubham finished as the runner-up. Both of them will be competing in Tekken 8, a popular fighting game.
Wasfi and Shubham: The ESFI’s NESC24 Winners
At the NESC24, Wasfi and Shubham went head-to-head in some intense matches. In the Winners Final, Wasfi won against Shubham by 3-2 in a closely fought battle. Shubham didn’t give up though! After losing to Wasfi, he fought his way through the Losers Final, defeating Abhinav Tejan (known as Tejan) with a score of 3-2. Tejan was the winner of NESC23 and had previously represented India in other international tournaments. But in the Grand Final, Wasfi once again showed his skills and beat Shubham 3-2 to claim the championship.

What is the BRICS Esports Championship 2024?
The BRICS Esports Championship is a huge deal, with nine countries coming together to compete. Teams from India, Brazil, Russia, South Africa, China, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates will battle it out in Tekken 8.
The competition will take place at the VK Play Arena in Moscow, and the prize pool is 1.5 million rubles, which is about 13.32 lakh rupees in India. That’s a lot of money!
In the championship, each country will send two of its best Tekken 8 players, just like India is sending Wasfi and Shubham. All the players will compete in a round-robin group stage first, where they will play against each other in groups. After that, the top players will move on to the Olympic-style playoffs, where the best players will face off in the finals on November 10, 2024, in front of a crowd of excited fans.
The Esports Federation of India (ESFI), which organized the NESC24, has been working hard to promote esports in India. They’ve helped Indian players take part in international events like the Asian Games and the Commonwealth Esports Championship. India even won bronze medals in esports at the Commonwealth Games and placed fifth in the League of Legends tournament. ESFI is doing a lot to help Indian players shine in the global esports world.
This is a big moment for Wasfi, Shubham, and Indian esports as a whole. Both players are excited to take on the best players from around the world and show off their skills. They’ve already proven themselves by performing well in the NESC24, and now they have the chance to make India proud on an even bigger stage.
All eyes will be on Moscow as the best Tekken 8 players from nine different countries fight for the title and the prize money. Let’s wish Wasfi and Shubham the best of luck as they get ready to represent India at this huge event.
