The Clash of Clans October 2025 update is introducing a new Magic Shield, revamped Revenge system, stronger Spring Trap, and major quality-of-life improvements for players.

The October 2025 update for Clash of Clans (COC) is shaping up to be one of the biggest and most exciting yet. It promises to change the way battles play out, reduce grinding, and add new strategies with fresh mechanics. Here’s a detailed look at everything revealed so far about the COC October 2025 Update.
Changes and Reworks in COC October 2025 Update
Magic Shield: A Brand-New Protection System
The traditional shield and village guard systems will be replaced by the all-new Magic Shield. Unlike before, players can now attack other players freely while their Magic Shield is active, as the shield won’t break or shorten due to offense.
Here’s how the Magic Shield works:
- You get a Magic Shield automatically for 8 hours if an attacker steals 30% or more of your loot.
- If someone attacks your base when your shield is active, they only fight a copy (shadow base) of your actual base. So you keep all your loot safe.
- The Magic Shield applies only in the normal "Battle Mode." In the new "Ranked Mode," the current Legend Shield still operates.
- Players can also buy Magic Shields from the shop in durations of 1 day, 2 days, or 1 week with cooldowns between purchases.
- Returning players who have been away for 35+ days receive a welcoming 48-hour Magic Shield to protect their base upon their return.
This system aims to give players better protection while allowing more freedom to attack without fearing shield loss.
Revamped Revenge System: Finally Useful
The Revenge button has notoriously been a source of frustration, mostly being useless due to shields blocking attacks. The update fixes this by allowing revenge attacks even if your opponent has a Magic Shield.
New features include:
- You can strike back within 12 hours if someone steals 30% or more of your loot.
- Revenge battles use shadow bases, meaning you can always attack regardless of the opponent’s shield status or if they are online.
- Players are guaranteed to loot back at least what they lost, or more if possible.
- Revenge battles now count towards Star Bonuses, League Bonuses, and event progress, making revenge attacks rewarding and meaningful.
This overhaul makes the revenge system functional, strategic, and rewarding.
Stronger and Smarter Spring Trap
The Spring Trap has been reworked to pack a bigger punch:
- It now targets the largest troop in range rather than multiple small troops.
- If the troop's housing space exceeds the trap's capacity, it takes heavy damage.
- Surviving troops get pushed vertically and temporarily stalled, helping in defense.
- The Spring Trap can still throw smaller troops completely off the map.
- Seven new levels of Spring Trap are added, spanning from Town Hall 11 to 12.
- Builder Base Spring Traps get a fresh level as well.
Easier Upgrades and Resource Changes
To reduce grind and speed progress, upgrades for heroes and buildings are about 20% faster and cheaper. Also:
- Town Hall 12 to 15 and Town Hall 17 now have unified upgrade levels, removing multiple star upgrades. This removes complexity and saves resources.
- Town Hall weapons now instantly match stats of fully maxed versions when upgrading is interrupted.
- The loot returned by the cart system after losses is reduced from 20% to 10%.
New Multiplayer Modes: Battle and Ranked Battle
Clash of Clans multiplayer battles will now be split into two main modes, giving players more freedom:
- Battle Mode: The default farming mode where players can attack freely, skip bases, and farm resources without trophy worries.
- Ranked Battle Mode: Focuses on trophy progression with limited daily attacks and no base skipping. Designed for competitive players pushing their rankings.
Only Ranked Battles affect trophy counts and leagues, while both modes contribute to Star and League bonuses.
League System Overhaul
Town Hall 7 and above unlock the Ranked mode, which acts like a smaller Legends League with new tiers and gameplay modifiers. This revamped league system provides more competitive depth while allowing casual farming separately.
