The Batman with Robert Pattinson was a huge hit in 2022 and a sequel has been in the works for a while now. Unfortunately, the next part is going to be delayed.
The Batman 2 was set to release in October 2025, but the film has been delayed by an entire year, now set for a 2026 October release instead. Deadline has reported that the reason for this delay could be a ripple effect of the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strikes.
But with the DC Universe set to kick off in 2025 with the Superman movie, this could actually be a blessing with the two biggest superheroes not releasing movies back-to-back.
The Batman 2 Delayed By A Whole Year
The Batman 2 is going to be released a year later than initially expected and while the reason is not clear as to why, most believe this is happening because of the strikes that took place in 2023 which delayed multiple film and television projects.
Another reason could also be the release of the new Superman movie in July 2025. While Matt Reeve's The Batman films are not part of James Gunn's DC Universe, having these two well-known superhero personalities release movies so close to one another could feel disruptive.
While The Batman is not part of the DC Universe, we do know that James Gunn will be making canon Batman movies and include the hero in his universe as well in the future. The first phase of the DC Universe will feature 5 full length films already revealed by Gunn himself.
The Batman managed to rake in around $771 million on a $200 million budget, having made it a huge success worldwide, so the sequel is highly anticipated by most. Now, fans of the Batman will just have to be a bit more patient and wait one year longer.
