Team Vitality and Team GodLike, both Indian esports teams have been eliminated from the COD Mobile Summer Invitational 2024.
The COD Mobile Summer Invitational 2024 has ended for two of India’s top esports teams, Team Vitality and Team GodLike. Both teams had high hopes going into the tournament, but they were knocked out during the Knockout Stage by some tough international teams.
Team GodLike Eliminated from COD Mobile Summer Invitational 2024
Team GodLike was the first to leave the competition after a rough match against Elevate, a team from the Philippines. It was a best-of-five series, and GodLike lost the first round 175-250. They won the second round 9-7, but couldn’t keep up the energy and lost the remaining rounds. They earned 15,000 yuan (about $2,100), but it wasn’t the result they wanted.
Well, GodLike hasn’t been playing their best lately. They had a tough time during the group stage of the Summer Invitational, and they’ve been struggling to get back to the top, where they used to be one of the best COD Mobile teams in the world. Earlier this year, they finished second in the regional Snapdragon Pro Series Season 6, so getting knocked out of the Summer Invitational is a setback as they get ready for the COD Mobile World Championship 2024 next month.
Team Vitality Eliminated from COD Mobile Summer Invitational 2024
Team Vitality had a tough time too. After losing their first match against XROCK in the upper bracket, they got sent to the lower bracket.
In their second match, they played against Wolves Esports, and it was a do-or-die situation. The match was super close—Vitality lost the first two rounds, but then they came back and tied the score by winning on the Arsenal and Summit maps. Sadly, they couldn’t keep the momentum, losing the next two rounds, which knocked them out of the tournament. Vitality ended up finishing in 5th-6th place, which was surprising because they are usually a very strong team.
In total, the COD Mobile Summer Invitational 2024 had eight teams that made it from the Group Stage, with a big prize pool of 500,000 yuan ($70,480). Teams like Wolves, XROCK, Elevate, and Qing Jiu Club went further in the tournament with strong performances. Qing Jiu Club and XROCK made it to the upper bracket finals, while teams like Wolves and Stalwart Esports kept fighting in the lower bracket.

Qing Jiu Club and XROCK reached the upper bracket finals, while teams like Wolves and Stalwart Esports continued to battle in the lower bracket.
For both Team Vitality and Team GodLike, this tournament was a wake-up call that they need to improve and work on their strategies if they want to compete at the top level. This event was like a warm-up for the upcoming COD Mobile World Championship 2024, where both teams will aim to do much better.
Last year, both teams made it pretty far on the global stage, and Vitality recently changed their roster, which showed some promise during the Snapdragon Pro Series Season 5. Now, with the COD Mobile World Championship 2024 happening in October, both Indian teams will need to step up their game as the competition will be even tougher.
While things didn’t go as planned in the Summer Invitational, the lessons they learned here could help them prepare for the bigger challenges that are coming up.
