Epic Games has a few updates for Fortnite Crew in December and not everybody likes what is coming.
With Epic Games' changes to Fortnite Crew – especially in combination with the Battle Pass – players are absolutely unhappy.
For those who want to access the Battle Pass with some additional benefits, Fortnite Crew has always been a great option. The monthly subscription not only comes with the premium rewards of the Pass but also unique skins, cosmetics and legacy styles.
But with the updates Epic is making to the way Fortnite Crew works starting December 1, this might change a bit.
You have to have Crew to get your rewards
The changes will allow players to unlock more passes outside the main chapter or season’s Battle pass including the LEGO, music and upcoming Fortnite OG passes and by that gather a lot of purchases you otherwise would have to do separately – but there is a negative catch to that.
Because the premium rewards on the Battle Pass won’t be available when your Crew subscription isn’t active anymore. While right now the entire Battle Pass is available for players despite not owning Crew anymore, in the future you would have to resubscribe to the Crew to gain access to premium rewards.
This of course led to some more than angry voices in the community.
The community reacted furious
People are already calling it "a scam", claiming to "never ever buy the crew pack ever again" and asking how "such a great game could go to sh*t with a single change".
But there are also people that think the change makes sense and that Fortnite Crew already added a lot of content without an additional payment.
The main problem might be that not everybody will be able to grind the Pass’ rewards before the end of their Crew subscription. So these people might renew the Crew just to access rewards that are only available later in the Season.
What are your thoughts on the changes to Fortnite Crew? Will you keep playing it after the update?
