Take-Two CEO: GTA 6 will be "extraordinary"

Rockstar Games is keeping very quiet about Grand Theft Auto 6. The artificial scarcity of information only seems to fuel the hype and rumour mill. In an interview, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of parent company Take-Two Interactive, has opened up about the most anticipated game of 2025.

Rockstar Games' marketing strategy is clearly paying off.

Despite remaining silent for over a year, statements from industry experts continue to surface regularly.

As a result, Grand Theft Auto 6 has become one of the most talked-about topics in the gaming world long before its release, all without a new trailer in over a year.

"The wait will be worth it."

Recently, speculations surfaced on Reddit about an official product listing from Rockstar, similar to what happened with GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption, which often hints at upcoming sneak peeks, trailers, or announcements.

The community is still eagerly waiting for new content, especially a second trailer.

However, Rockstar Games remains tight-lipped, offering no new information.

Many still suspect that a new trailer will drop in early 2025, as previous marketing campaigns typically started 6 to 9 months before release.

Although there is little new information about GTA 6, the game continues to dominate the media.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick recently addressed the open-world action-adventure in a YouTube interview on December 13, 2024.

During the conversation with influencer Conner Mather, Zelnick promised that the wait would be worth it and that the game would be "extraordinary".

These exciting promises came from the CEO and Chairman of Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, who also explained that the subsidiary enjoys "a high level of creative independence" and that the collaboration between Rockstar and Take-Two is built on mutual agreements and communication.

"Obviously, there's financial support, marketing and distribution support, but creatively the labels are exercising enormous freedom."

After the success of GTA 5 and especially the later introduction of its multiplayer mode, it became clear that community interaction is one of the key elements in implementing player feedback according to fan expectations.

Still, balancing feedback and statistics with creative freedom is essential to making a great game. Naturally, with AAA titles, there is immense pressure on the developers, for whom their work is more than just a job.

"It's their lives' work, and it's not just commerce, it's art; it's not just business, it's emotions."

On the other hand, all involved are deeply grateful to be part of such a significant project.

Fake trailer confusion

A supposed gameplay video of GTA 6 recently caused a stir.

The 30-second clip featured a surveillance camera in an alley and appeared remarkably realistic.

However, it was quickly revealed to be a sophisticated fake created using Unreal Engine 5.

The creator claimed to have spent a month working on the video.

Official content for GTA 6 may still be a long way off, but when it does arrive, there will likely be more than enough to satisfy fans.

After all, the game has been in development for over 10 years and is believed to have a budget between $1 and $2 billion, making it the most expensive video game ever developed — certainly setting high expectations.

Although the release was originally scheduled for late 2025, industry insiders now predict it may be delayed until early 2026.

However, there has been no confirmed information about this.

Whether it's late 2025 or early 2026, Grand Theft Auto 6 will likely cement its place in video game history.

Let’s hope the game will continue to captivate us, as we dive into the legendary Vice City in Bonnie and Clyde style.
