We all know the feeling of fighting an endboss, seeing his gigantic sword or laser beam shooting helmet thinking “I wanna have that!” TankHead allows you exactly this by shooting tanks and other mecha enemies to bits and then scavenging them for parts.

Tank and Needle

Developed by Alpha Channel for a few years and now finally released, this game lets you maneuver your machine through a sci-fi landscape, blasting other tanks and robot-like enemies and send drones towards their remains, looking for useful items, armor and weapons.

The games Steam page explains:

As Whitaker your goal is to fight to reach Highpoint, to do that you must traverse the ECA – an area where humans cannot survive. Whitaker must project his mind into a Needle, a robust drone capable of surviving in the harsh conditions of the ECA – and of piloting your Tank. Use your Needle and Tank to combat the vehicles and creatures of the ECA to reach Highpoint.

Use the tools your opponent mistreated you the most with

Gameplay wise, this game basically works like other tank-based games. You steer your vehicle from one cover to the next, trying to get some good shots at the opponents while hiding the more vulnerable parts of your tank like the engine.

And when you finally get rid of one of your enemies, the annoying armor that reflected a lot of your shots or the big gun the mecha robot fired way too often at you is finally yours and now the problem of your next enemy.

So far, the game launched for the Epic Games Store – and the Epic Games Store only – and can be bought for $24.89 until December 18 – after that day it will cost $29.99.

What is your favorite weapon of an endboss you always wanted to use yourself? Will you try out TankHead?
