Metroidvania meets Zelda in this simplistic pixel game

Riddle Master Productions' Oolo will be released in 2025 – but you can play the free demo already.

Riddle Master Productions announced the release of Oolo for 2025 and with a free demo on their Steam page, you can check the game out already!

Metroid meets Castlevania meets Zelda

The game claims to be “a modern take on the classic isometric adventure game” and features a simplistic but in its own way magical looking pixel style. Players are in control of a small, purple wizard who has to find his path through various blocky forests, caves and dungeons – or should we say “paths”?

The game is designed in a way that new items and tools will change how you’re able to explore the map, reaching new haunted catacombs or magical factories. You will have to solve puzzles, find keys and discover upgrades to make life easier for the purple magician. Just as in your favorite metroidvanias, but this time in a more Zelda-themed scenery.

Along your way you will come across the memories of previous adventurers which you can piece together to reveal the secrets of the Isle of Souls and move on on your quest to rekindle the World Flame.

A non-violent game full of monsters

The game includes more than 400 rooms that are connected to each other, representing dark forests, subterranean cryps or deadly swamps, hiding mysterious and magical artifacts that will help you to make progress at other places.

In this non-violent game you move blocks, ride enemies and jump up (or sometimes down) to completely new areas, flee from blue ghosts or avoid getting hit by giant skull monsters shooting green flames until you find all six elemental keys to unlock the portal that will lead you to the World Flame.

So far Riddle Master Productions hasn’t announced an official release date but it will be somewhen next year – and until that you can give the free demo a try.

Are you interested in the demo of Oolo? Or did you already give it a try?
