Dante’s Ring will be an action RPG in which you have to rescue instead of fighting.
Starward Industries, the developer of The Invincible has announced its newest project by releasing a trailer for Dante’s Ring, an action-adventure RPG that relies on anti-combat.
Adventure RPG without combat
In general there is not much difference to your regular roleplay game. Players are confronted with survival and arcade elements, while they’re trying to survive the "unrelenting forces of nature during an unexpected volcanic eruption on an eerie, ancient and mysterious island". But then there’s a twist.
Instead of fighting monsters or other kinds of enemies, you have to save as many lost beings as you can.
The vicious fires of Dante’s Ring
Playing a bold explorer that tries to survive and save as many people as possible while a volcano throws fire, ashes and rocks at you, you have to uncover the island’s secrets.
You will find hints that are buried deep in the island's ground while avoiding molten lava flows, earthquakes and scorching fires while only being equipped with fireproof armour and stylized retro tools.
Explaining the special twist of the game, the developer says:
As if that wasn’t enough of a challenge, Dante's Ring will consistently push players to navigate life and death through strategic planning and ingenuity, all while navigating complex moral choices that will shape their story. The main questions are: how much are you willing to sacrifice to save one more life? Will you descend into the very heart of hell, and are you prepared to uncover its secrets?
So far there is no firm release date, even though Steam suggests it to be released “soon” as early access. The team already announced that it will stay there for as long as it takes until an “engaging gameplay and a captivating story” are created.
Will you give Dante's Ring a try?
