Outersloth is a new funding project for indie games from Innersloth, the developers of Among Us.
Innersloth, known for Among Us, recently announced that they are starting a new company called Outersloth for supporting and funding indie games. The developers revealed that they want to use their success to help more indie games reach players.
This announcement was made at the Summer Game Fest 2024 and has had gamers excited since then. With Outersloth, Innersloth plans to bring out lots of new games and work with many indie developers, which could be the biggest collaboration in indie gaming history.
This article looks into what this means for Innersloth, indie games, and gamers.
Outersloth for Funding Indie Games - New Firm of Innersloth
Innersloth has decided to use their success to support other developers' projects instead of making sequels like Among Us 2, 3, or 4. They've launched a new publishing company with the goal of bringing more indie games to players.
Outersloth has already funded nine games, including new games from Visai Games, Strange Scaffold, and Coldblood Inc.
On Ouetrsloth's website, the developer talked about the problems in the gaming industry, like people losing their jobs and not having enough money. But Innersloth has been doing well and staying independent because of the support from players, and hence the company wanted to thank the players and fellow devs by creating Outersloth.
In the press release, Victoria Tran, communications director of Among Us said, "Some devs don’t really get the chance they deserve, so we thought maybe we could help out a little bit. We made this indie game fund to offers deals we would’ve wanted to have back in our less popular Amongie days. This is our way of saying thank you to our Crewmates, players, and peers – by helping some games and devs have the funding and freedom needed to ship their games."
Outersloth is not a game publisher, but it gives money to games that need between $50,000 and $2 million. They have a “recoup and reshare” plan, which means they help make fun, new games without taking the rights to the game.
Indie Games That Are Part of Outersloth Funding
At the Summer Game Fest 2024, Outersloth also revealed a lineup of indie games that they will fund. These include:
- Mars First Logistics
- Battle Suit Aces
- Mossfield Archives
- One Btn Bosses
- Rogue Eclipse
- Project Dosa from Outerloop Games (Thirsty Suitors)
Mars First Logistics is already in Early Access, and a demo for One Btn Bosses is now available.
Here is how Outersloth has described all its indie titles:
- Battle Suit Aces, Trinket Studio – From the creators of Battlechef Brigade, lead a plucky crew to turn the tide against a star-consuming threat. Recruit ace pilots, upgrade their mecha Battle Suits, and captain your own epic tale in this card-battling RPG.
- Mars First Logistics, Shape Shop – Build physically simulated rovers and transport awkwardly shaped cargo across the surface of Mars.
- Mossfield Archives, Studio Any Percent – A relaxing and beautiful game about exploring and building connections.
- ONE BTN BOSSES, Midnight Munchies – It’s in the name. You have one button. There are big bosses to beat. Push, tap, and bash to beat them. Upgrade your ship, change your playstyle, and do it all over again!
- Project Dosa, Outerloop Studio – From the creators of Thirsty Suitors, discover and cook new dosa recipes, help the locals, and fight off enemies in your mech to reunite with your loved ones.
- Rogue Eclipse, HUSKRAFTS – A thrilling spaceflight action game inspired by Arabesque Futurism.
Innersloth's Collaboration With Other Indies for Among Us
Besides announcing Outersloth and the roster of indie games, Innersloth has been really busy with Among Us.
They've teamed up with seven famous indie games to create what's being called the biggest collaboration ever in indie gaming history. This means players can look forward to exciting rewards and experiences from the following games:
- A Hat In Time
- Alien Hominid
- Castle Crashers
- Celeste
- Crypt of the NecroDancer
- Undertale
- Untitled Goose Game
Well, Outersloth's announcement and Among Us' success mean Innersloth could become a big deal in indie gaming. They're helping other indie games and making new ones, so we'll probably get more cool games soon.
Moreover, Among Us mixing with other indie games shows how much people still love it and how it keeps getting better. Players will love the new stuff and playing with other games, making Among Us even more fun and showing it's still a favorite game for everyone.
